Today I am grateful...
- that I am free to come and go as I please
- to be listening to some groovy tunes by Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66 courtesy of ChadFox
- for the BEAUtiful post on Beau's blog yesterday about a Basquiat spiritual connection
- for the Christmas party at Laura and Rebecca's log cabin. Nestled in the crook of a finger bayou, surrounded by tall trees draped with vines sits a log cabin built by the Boy Scouts in 1937. It is as charming as a Bing Crosby Christmas movie and is now inhabited by two lesbians in recovery. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera.
- for one of what AAs call a 'God thing' last night. Jim and I were in his kitchen talking about the across the courtyard family who are all three in recovery when she (the mom) drives up (her parking place is at Jim's back door) just as we were about to take dinner over to Randall's apartment. It was raining and we asked if she wanted to cut through the apartment to hers to avoid the rain. She came in and mentioned that something had happened that made her want to use in a major way, that she had spent the day with her sponsor. She eyed the food we had on our three plates and Jim asked if she was hungry. She hadn't eaten all day, so we gave her a plate of roasted pork loin and potato salad. After we ate and went back to Jim's she came in with the empty plate and ooohed and awwed over how delicious it was (it was!). The three of chatted a few minutes and I gave her my numbers and Luscious LaJuana's numbers (she may need some strong AlAnon help). Jim and she exchanged numbers too. And because I work a strong program and have done my step work, let go of a lot of my me stuff, I can be there for an almost complete stranger when they need someone to be there.
- that today I have a purpose that I can relate to and support and love

That's ALL good stuff, Scotty boy. Especially the story of the neighbor. She might do well to remember one of the first things we learn in AA - H.A.L.T.
Have a GREAT day.
