Foreword (Alcoholics Anonymous)
Many people, nonalcoholics, report that as a result of the practice of A.A.'s Twelve Steps, they have been able to meet other difficulties of life. They think that the Twelve Steps can mean more than sobriety for problem drinkers. They see in them a way to happy and effective living for many, alcoholic or not.

Today I am grateful...
  • that I have received shaktipat from a Siddha
  • that life on life's terms is making more sense
  • that it is getting easier for me to share in meetings
  • that autumn is around the corner even though the forecast for today is 98F
  • that, wow, I could have had a V-8...except I can’t abide anything with tomato juice in it
  • for treasure trails seen under the edge of tee shirts
Real success requires respect for and faithfulness to the highest human values - honesty, integrity, self-discipline, dignity, compassion, humility, courage, personal responsibility, courtesy, and human service. --Michael DeBakey, M.D.
