IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

09.24.05

Today I am grateful...
  • that we were spared the brunt of Rita
  • that my addict mind is calm and peaceful after being a bit put out because there was no exciting weather, what with all that frenetic energy leading up to last night and then the flat feeling of feeling disappointed
  • to have awakened at 4 a.m. to total blackness, open the door to the soft glow of candlelight and the sounds of opera wafting thru Randall's apartment
  • that I was out on the street at 6:30 this morning to go home to check on things (all is fine here), that Sonny had brewed coffee and it was still warm (Lambda lost power at 3:30 am) and our chat about reincarnation
  • for the small but powerful gratitude meeting this morning in the dark with the windows open and the trees blowing in the wind
  • that maybe the levee breach in New Orleans will wash away some of the nastiness left behind from Katrina
  • that the government will be forced to evaluate how and why we are not prepared for ANYTHING
  • that my Higher Power continues to bring me back to center
  • that I have a shower and a nap in my very near future
  • for all the thoughts, prayers and phone calls from loved ones

Thank you for the update, Scott. I have been thinking about you all morning, and hoping that all is well today for you, Chester, and everyone.

It is amazing how we long for that adrelaine rush from negative excitement. We can all relate, I know. To me, when reading what you wrote this morning, I had a kind of lightbulb moment and could see how worry, and sometimes, worry and fear within myself trigger that kind of negative adrelaine rush that can be hard to let go of at times. It is when I can center myself, turn it over, and trust in my higher power that my mind and heart are the most peaceful.

Thank you for your words today. I needed to hear them.

Many blessings.

I am so glad you guys were spared. You said it prefectly when you said our government is not prepared for ANYTHING. I wonder how the "safety Moms" feel now? Sorry that was political. Also I love the image of this flood washing Katrina clean.

Trudge, what are 'safety moms'?

WE were truely lucky not to get the full brunt of the hurricane. WE only had one large limb down and a "snowing" of pine needles. I thank God for these blessings. Glad you are alright.
