Me, 1957, in front of the first house Mom and Dad bought, a little California bungalow on North 21st Street. My first memories are from this house--Bad Eye, the one-eyed squirrel that we used to feed from the kitchen door; my brother seeing his first snow fall; a dream where the moons in my fingernails were painfully perpendicular to the nail bed--ouch! Was I cute or what?

Me and Krishna, 1973, on the back steps of the house on North Friendship Road, taken by my first gay friend, Dale. We were home from MSU for the weekend. It was during the fall semester after I had spent the summer in NYC where I learned to let my hair grow in its naturally curly direction. Notice I have a short sleeved shirt over a long sleeved one, and bell bottoms I had let the hem out of to allow for the height of my platform shoes.

I had shoes like those, sort of...I had saddle shoes with big heels. Probably not platforms though.

Oh I remember the long sleeve, short sleeve thing. Actually the kids here are wearing them like that again, although theyre baggier and all the hippy cheesecloth type girls tops are back in. What goes around eh?

Do you remember So that everyone in the family thought that cat was a female when he was young and I insisted he was a male. When he grew up and his balls fell everyone knew I was right, although I am sure Dad never admitted he was wrong. HA!

Lots of things come back when reading that story of you going to NYC. I was, of course, in my own world of my 1st love in Paducah but I did think of you often. I am glad you had the time of your life.

I love you, So
