Today I am grateful for faith. When I reentered the rooms of AA on November 18, 2003 it was all over. No more fighting, no searching for reasons to avoid people, places and things. My Higher Power was working in stealth mode and I didn't see it coming, I hadn't been praying to be able to stop drinking. As if by rote I made a phone call, accepted help, was taken to a meeting. I remember little about that meeting; the applause when I picked up my desire chip and Marsha and Diane.
The stopping fighting--the surrender, attending daily meetings, getting a sponsor, working the steps, developing a support group and seeing that the program has worked for so many people has given me faith. I did and still do as is suggested to me, and it has worked. Something so simple was at one time so overwhelming.
