Last night R and J and I went for pizza at Star Pizza. It's moved into Leo's Mexican Restaurant's old location. We used to spend every Friday night at Leo's, and not with just our Friday night gang. Sometimes there would be upwards of 20+ guys at our table, all of us guzzling deliciously strong margaritas and we would get louder and louder as the tequila flowed. We were a terrificly funny, witty bunch of screamers. The staff loved us (we are big tippers) and it was 'Katy bar the door' some nights. We never took hostages, but where was plenty of talk of such. In those days margaritas were the start of a weekend of drinking, passing out, drinking more and more passing out. It wasn't too long before the blackouts started. Those days are gone, thankfully.
Last night was our first visit to Star Pizza since their move and we were led to a table right where we used to sit during those old Friday night fagfests. The place looks different now, gone are the ZZ Top memorabilia and all the tacky Mexican decorations, replaced with 'strategicly placed' knicknacks. It was very comforting to sit there, in the same location where I used to drink to hysterics and know that where I am today is so much more comfortable than those old days. J had a couple of glasses of Chianti, R had iced tea and I had my usual water with lemon.
This post started out to be about Saturday morning, but I got a bit distracted. My old thermostat has been moaning and groaning and last night the fan wouldn't cut off, so I called my wonderful landlady and she called ChillCo to come to the rescue. I now have a thoroughly modern digital thermostat. And I found the wall paint so I can touch up the surrounding area where the old plate was.
The yard people came and roared their totally obnoxiously loud leaf blowers until the flagstone was cleared, all the leaves bagged and carried away.
So, this post is not very amusing after all, but not a bad way to start the weekend.
