Jean's Party

Jean's Tibetan New Years party was a big success, and just like last year the house was filled with a great and eclectic mix of people. I got there early and Vance and Jeff were busy in the kitchen. They are Jean's neighbors and are cute as hell. Jeff made the greatest music mix for the night--oldies mixed with ethnic music from other parts of the world. By 7:30 the house was getting full, Jim and Randall, Dennis and Dan, Paul and Rick, people I know from Siddha Yoga, lots of Jean's neighbors including a young man who lives in Randall's old apartment right next to Jean's house. That's how I know Jean, she and Ran became fast friends when he lived there.

I took some pictures, but as usual they were either blurry or just plain bad. The one above of Jean and Jackie Chan is one of the best.

For the most part I stayed outside in Jean's multi-landscaped back yard where it was cooler and I could smoke. I am still not good at parties, but a hell of a lot better than I used to be. No longer have to gauge my drinking so I could just be there, staying for three hours and not really being worn out and was even able to chat with strangers. This is hugely different than it used to be.

So Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday to Jean, her daughter Mary and Mary's beau, Don.
