Happy Hanukkah!
Had the best luncheon experience yesterday headed up by our fabulous Dave U (http://texandave.blogspot.com). He drove Norris, Michael and me to deep dark south east Houston to the Kelly's Country Cookin'. It's as big as an airplane hangar, well maybe not that big, but it was so lit with fluorescent bulbs that Michael said you could land a plane in there. Ginormous plate lunches. Fried catfish filets (2 on a plate), cole slaw, black eyed peas, buttery corn and plenty of rolls and cornbread. It was all yummy! I wondered who owned the car parked out front with the 'Old Bat' license plate.
Today I am grateful...
- for a great 10th step meeting led by the mega-sponsor Dennis R
- that I am constantly amazed by the beauty of the human spirit
- that by hacking away at my character defects, getting honest, accepting humility and living inside hope, I can just let it happen
- for the facts of: yesterday is gone forever, tomorrow is always a day away and the entire experience of eternity is in this moment
- to hear reports of Don K's giggling
- to have our esteemed member Bob S with us yesterday
- for everything I have lost, everything I have and everything I will gain
- for the joy of smiling at the end of the day, just before I slip off to sleep
- that today I have been sober for 385 days

Some of you folks don't know me, some do. I am Scott's sister from Kentucky. I want everyone who reads his lists to know how proud I am of him and how much I respect him. He is one of the most important people in my life and has been since I literally can remember. I remember the day he told me he was gay and I wanted to know everything about it. I consider myself to be a lucky girl to have such a special and wonderful brother. I have to share him with his family in Houston but I don't mind because that is what makes him happy. I miss him terribly and wish I could see him more often, but my kids drive him crazy! Just wanted to say hello to his friends and let you know how lucky, in my opinion, you are all to share his love and friendship. He is truly a special person that God put on this Earth.
