I can't get too cocky around AA. I can be a peacock one day and a feather duster the next. ~Unknown
.
Today I am grateful...
- for a late night conversation with another alcoholic
- that I have been steadfast in the maintenance of my recovery program
- that I NEVER have to do it by myself again
- that I was thrown back into the ocean (see quote below)
- that during laughter, nothing else exists
- that truth and love are always victorious
- that the road traveled is easier when my baggage is light
A man was walking on a beach after a storm. Thousands of starfish were stranded on the shore. He saw a boy throwing starfish back into the ocean and asked the boy why. The boy replied, "The tide is going out, the starfish will die in the sun." The man said, "But there's so many of them, what difference can it make?" The boy threw another starfish and said, "It'll make a difference to that one." ~Anonymous

I have always loved that story of the starfish. It's something I keep saved in my favorites. It's a wonder feeling that someone cared enough to toss us back in, isn't it...(Hugs)Indigo
I NEVER have to do it by myself again.
I wish that I had written down all the little schemes I had devised while I was alone - to stop drinking. I could probably write a comedy skit about it.
It's cold outside my friend.
I don't much care for that.
That is one of my very favorite stories.
You might be a feather duster but I'm a swifter..cause I have terminal uniqueness...that's why I keep coming back..

Where have I been..I never heard that story!
thanks for answering the phone yesterday. you are a dear friend.
We have a whole fellowship of starfish. I like that.
What an excellent post! I'm glad I saved it for today.
Love the starfish story. A couple years ago I gave my sister a pic of her and I at the ocean when I was little, along with that story.
She put it in her bathroom.
*sigh*
i need this one, "that truth and love are always victorious" to hurry the hell up.
The starfish quote is so good. I'll have to copy it. What a great parable.
