IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Rushing through life is neither enjoyable nor effective. Slow down, spend your time and resources wisely and thoughtfully, and enjoy the journey. With your efforts steady and consistent, have the patience to let life unfold at a sustainable pace. And the results you seek will surely come to you in good time. ~Ralph Marston
Today I am grateful...
  • that today I am not still using and causing people to avoid me
  • that sobriety can be difficult work (even exhausting), but it is definitely the easier, softer way
  • for my memories. Whether they are delightful or painful, they are mine.
  • that my urge to create is strong these days
  • that I found a spirituality that works for me
Spirituality encompasses all that is good and noble in all the great religions of the world. It cannot be confined or limited to one religion or denomination. Spirituality stops the recovering person from looking for the differences; it stops the arrogance and prejudice; it stops the division and separations that feed the disease. Spirituality emphasizes the inherent unity of man. It teaches the most stubborn of men to hold hands. ~Fr Leo

Thanks, Scott, for the Fr Leo quote. I don't recall reading that before, and it's a wonderful bedrock sentiment. Makes me want to hug my spirituality and give it away at the same time. Gifts.

Gretting from Minnesota. I've been a lurker for some time now.. Last night at the meeting, we got on the subject of how exhausting sobriety can be. Some days it takes all I have to just make it through the day without a drink. BUT - it definitely is the easier, softer way. My most exhausting day in sobriety is nowhere near as exhausting as obsessing after that next drink.

I believe in slowing down. I never did slow down much until I realized that all the rushing around wasn't getting me anywhere substantive.

Hi Scott! I'm reading blogs on their written day-and trying to comment the next day. That's not working for me.
