IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

12.07.07

FYI: I know none of the music nominated for a Grammy. I know Beyonce is from Houston, and I know Justin Timberlake has a really tight body. And Amy Winehouse is a mess. Whatever popular music I have heard over the recent past is just so uninteresting to me.
Now, THIS by Pink is not only good music (to me) but has a message that breaks my heart.
I have two more day of this nasty, stomach wrenching antibiotic. And the steroid I am taking for my vertigo is giving me insomnia. But, I am lucky to have such medicine to allow my healing. When I recently had my wisdom teeth removed I kept thinking about the unbelievable pain before Novocaine and other pain blockers were available. There are modern conveniences, and then there are the incredible miracles that allow us all to live a life of luxury compared to our past incarnations. Astonishing miracles.
Did you know I love me some Pet Shop Boys? I adore them. If I were forced to switch lives with someone it would be Neil Tennant (he is the voice of PSB). Music I can get lost in makes me so grateful for my hearing, those lyrics describe my past so painfully. Then to have something that can make my spirits soar like this. And, of course, when someone in the rooms says 'If left to my own devices' THIS song pops into my brain! Now I can embrace never being boring -- because now I am absolutely fabulous--know what I mean?
Grateful I don't consider character defects to be sins.

I'm the same with the current music and the crop of musicians. I find it hard to belive that rappers who promote violence and hate are able to win awards.
I guess that's the world we live in today.

I really love some of the new music (but not rap). My daughter recently listened to my iPod and was surprised at many of the 'modern' things I had downloaded.
Have a great Friday Scott.

Beyonce also looks great in green, I don't care what the Fug Girls say: http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/

Listening to some newish music. All positive stuff by young women about respecting oneself. Fighter by Christina Aguilera - finding gratitude in a bad situation. Pretty cool.

Sorry I deleted my first post. My keys were skiping and I did not proof read before I sent it.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that you have an incredible blog. You are giving a gift to others by shaing your life and what you have been through.
Keep up the good work.

Wonderful blog- and I agree with your comments about today's disposable excuse for music.
Your commments about the PSB are quite like mine about Mike Oldfield (especially his ballad-like songs), and the always fiercely idealistic The Alarm (as in "One Step Closer To Home").

That is interesting when you got your wisdom tooth removed and the excruciating pain!
I have not got it removed but I think that it will be for sure considering that thinking minds, like yours, must be feeling great pains after looking at the society and the world at large. So you must have felt the same pain!

My question is how do we get ole George to hear this song? Of course that is if he would even understand it. Very powerful.

Curious........i see that you got the 'inspirational blogger award'. What does one do to get that?
Hey.....i am trying to do things to speak out against family violence. My life story is on google as well as http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=9955bae7553ad4cd2ff0
it is talking about the S. Asian saving face aspect and how it fosters horrible things. So...if you check it out and pass it on...i would greatly appreciate it.

I'm a long-time PSB fan, too. Their version of "Go West" is one of my favorite car songs, and I love the gay chorus back-up.

The baby praying mantids in my home continue to appear in greater numbers, but at least none have tried to chew my head off in the night.

So far.
