We find what we desire. The real question is always: What do you want? You will get what you want. And if you want God, you will certainly find him. Though it may not be in the ways you would expect or like, but you will find him. So I would say, if this were a search for God, conducted ... your struggle is to work within the realities of your life, and look for God within it, not without it, and that will inspire people to do exactly the same. ~Sr Wendy (read interview here)
Today I am grateful...
- to have been back to working a bit yesterday. It was only for about three hours, and it wore me out, but it was nice to be back in the swing of things.
- for the gales of laughter last night in front of the television. We were all in great moods and at our wittiest! Can't beat that!
- for the early morning chat with my sister who is sorta on a retreat--hubby and teenage daughter gone for the weekend
- for quiet moments that truly make me feel free from desperation
- that I may wander through this world today feeling safe and secure
- to realize that some of my demons are just resting, waiting for another chance, and that I have to be vigilant and do my work
- that I am what I am and can be comfortable with that simple fact
We see God in the eyes of fellow recovering alcoholics. ~Bob R (paraphrased)

Good post - I always find God gives me what I need. Sometimes what I want, isn't really what God thinks I need, and the want invariably gets me into to trouble. If we seek God, we will find Him, that's a promise.
Someone shared this last tidbit with me, "My disease is out in the parking lot doing push ups, it's getting stronger ever day, it just waits for me to have no defense against that first drink and pounce on me. Therefore I must be active in my program, in constant conscious contact with God, and always work with others."
Blessings & Love,

I can't help but wonder what yall were watching on the telly.
Bob R. is often quoteable, in words only.
Thank you Scott for the Sister Wendy quote. It opened a door for me.
I'm glad you're up and around and in the swing of things!
Hi, my name is Cara, I started my first blogspot on Friday and today I came across your blogspots. I'm really into "The Secret" and "The Law of Attraction (the teachings of Abraham), so the title of this entry caught my eye...

Hi Scott
I love the idea of your post, it looks like therapy and an example for others to follow.
I am a yogini (female who practiced yoga) and my practice encompasses my life not just an exercise system.
I have had to face my personal demons too and one thing that really helped me is actually a buddhist idea - pleasure is different to happiness. Sometimes you have to do or face unpleasurable things to become happy. I made a huge step in my maturity when I accepted this. I now exercise when I don't feel like it because I know I feel happy when it is over. I also live my life completely and i don't shy away from harsh reality I face it head on and most of the time I overcome my demons. Good luck on your journey Scott, and rest assured you are not alone!
Namaste
Chandra
